Why Climb Kili?
You've heard it before - "Because it's there." Truly, it's been on my bucket list since forever. The allure of being on top of Africa and all of that. The timing worked out just perfectly to coincide with my work as Executive Director of the WiSH Education Foundation. Public education has large funding gaps and WiSH sends their dollars directly into the classroom to have the most impact. Please help us make a difference by making your tax deductible donation to our 501(c)3 HERE.
I'm absolutely thrilled to be evaluated and trained over the course of this year by Henry Mayo Fitness & Health using their state of the art fitness facility in Valencia, California.
Keep watching the blog posts and Tweets to keep up on the latest and greatest Physical Therapy and Training Techniques used by Henry Mayo as we embark on this journey together!
About WiSH and Public Education
The WiSH Education Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)3 located in Valencia, California. We firmly believe that all students deserve to have the tools in the classroom they need for optimum learning. In the early years, tools may be as simple as paper and pencils. In grades 7-12, however, tools are technology, scientific calculators, powerful microscopes and more. They are expensive, and tax dollars to not provide for all that is needed. That's where WiSH comes in - we provide for all of those things not paid for by federal, state and local funding. Here's our mission:
The Wm. S. Hart Education Foundation is dedicated to quality public education for all students. Through the generosity of our caring community and corporate partners, we fund programs and initiatives that go beyond what tax dollars provide and help elevate and prepare our students for life. WiSH is the official public charity 501(c)3 organization for the support of the William S. Hart Union High School District's educational programs.
Tax ID 45-4705593.

How I Got Here...
I've been an athlete all of my life; from the time I could take part in team sports I started with softball. In high school I was on the swimming and diving team during the summer and then during the school year I was on gymnastics, basketball and track. I loved being able to rotate my sports throughout the year! I also skied during the winters so it was a pretty full plate, sports-wise, growing up.
I went to the University of Vermont and still pinch myself this many decades later that I was fortunate enough to attend college in such an incredibly beautiful geographical area. Burlington sits on a hilltop overlooking Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains of New York State on one side, the Green Mountains of Vermont on the other. There, I met the most incredible people who allowed me to tag along on their adventures into the wilderness. While we had a large group of friends from UVM, it was four men that I met and lived with there that I choose to call my family and with whom I still trek around the world with today. Craig, Roddy, Josh and Ross are not just incredible athletes, but successful, intelligent, incredible humans who impact my life daily. Together we've been hiking and backpacking from coast to coast, Alaska, Canadian Rockies and over the Alps from Chamonix, France to the Matterhorn in Zermatt. Because of them, I've raised my kids backpacking throughout Washington State and have been exposed to the most incredible wilderness adventures!
So far, Josh will be joining me on my trek to Kili and we are looking for sponsors to get our entire group together for the climb. If you are interested in the exposure our group can bring you, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
